Close to the International Criminal Court in The Hague now stands the new headquarters of Eurojust. The building was designed by the combination Mecanoo, Royal HaskoningDHV and DS Landscape Architects. SILO was commissioned by Mecanoo to develop privacy-regulating spatial graphics for glass on all office floors.
Privacy and identity
A healthy and positive office environment is open, spatial and transparent, while privacy is essential when it comes to legal affairs. This applies even more so for Eurojust, the organization that is engaged on behalf of the European Union in the fight against serious transnational crime. The high-security building in the green area in Scheveningen is home to more than 500 European crime fighters. SILO designed a two layer foil system that on the one side ensures privacy and on the other side contributes to the identity of the surrounding area. Within the European Union countries are connected through law and language. SILO created graphic content with satellite images from a wide range of European locations and mixed those images with texts from the Lisbon Treaty (European Law agreement).
The new Eurojust headquarters is located inThe Hagues International Zone, in the same parameter as institutions such as Europol, NCIA, Kosovo Court and the International Criminal Court are located. Construction began in September 2015 and was completed last March 2017. Offering a convenient location for organizations like Eurojust is part of government policy and fits the development of The Hague as International City of Peace and Justice.
