Eline van der Ploeg has joined Silo as a designer in July 2018. With her research-driven approach and international experience, she fits perfectly within the growing team.
Eline graduated as a graphic designer from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 2015. During her studies she took part in a BioHack Academy at the Waag Society, creating experiments in the field of biodesign.
With her graduation project “Living Systems”, she was awarded the Royal Academy Prize. “Living Systems” is a microbiological exploration into typography. By considering the shape of a letter as a living being whose development is influenced by unexpected conditions of nature, the project allows for innovative design methods to emerge.
After completing her BA, she moved to Moscow to work as a designer for agencies such as Ermolaev Bureau and ARCH(E)TYPE.
At Silo she will further develop her professional interests, which range from conceptual storytelling to book design, from web design to biomaterials, and from identities to data-driven design.
