The year 2018 is about to close. Between the Christmas turkey and New Year’s oliebol, it is an excellent moment to look back at some of the highlights.
Silo turned ten this year, but we barely had time to think about it. We worked hard to bring the agency into a next phase. Part of that process was opening a studio in Amsterdam. “It is a logical step for us to work here with our clients on projects that create a positive impact,” said Dennis Flinterman.
We are proud of the diversity of projects that we have realized. The Rotterdam Aquatics Center was inaugurated early in the year. The friendly but watchful water giants at the entrance area create an appropriate welcome, which enhances a sense of security. Also in January, cycling retailer Futurumshop launched its fully redesigned webshop.
In June, we presented the new brand identity for Centralpoint. It will support the company’s ambition to become the largest business ICT provider in Europe. Our designs for Overflow and architecture practice Vakwerk also saw the light of day. Restaurant Greens in the Park, the special project for which Silo made a spatial, digital and brand identity, opened its doors just before the long hot summer.
We developed great campaigns for clients such as the Dutch Veterans’ Day Foundation, the House of Representatives, and the National Military Museum. For Grand Café 4’33, the unique collaboration between Muziekgebouw and Dudok, we created a robust logo. With the launch of the Research Software Directory, we continued the longstanding relationship with the eScience Center. The new website for visualizer Plomp is an incredible experience.
New commissions took Silo beyond the border. We traveled to Antwerp many times to provide the spectacular provincial government building, a design by Xaveer de Geyter Architects (XDGA) with wayfinding and spatial identity. We also started, among other things, the development of digital projects for Easyscan and architectural practice KCAP. Working together with the communication experts at EMMA, we won several pitches!
After the very successful 2017, we were very excited to win prestigious awards this year as well. Together with Mecanoo architects, we won the People’s Vote at the Frame Awards in the category Healthcare Center of the Year. The healing environment of Zaans Medical Center was also the overall winner of the Sign+ Awards. For the logo and brand identity of Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, Silo received an ADC Bronze Cube and a D&AD Wood Pencil. Also, Silo is proudly recognized as a Top Creative Agencies on DesignRush.
In short, 2018 was a good year. But with all the cool projects coming up, we cannot wait for 2019 to start!
